    As a child growing up in a rural community along the Sturgeon River, Sarah Midanik, a member of the Métis Nation of Alberta, could not have imagined that she would become the inaugural president and CEO of The Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund, a national charity that builds cultural understanding and creates a path toward reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Canadians. “Running a charity would never have crossed my mind as anything that was remotely possible,” she said. “I think these acts of service find you.”
